Understanding Greenhouse Effect

Our climate is changing and temperature in general are increasing on our planet. Sea level are rising and the ice is melting in the North and South poles. One reason for this is the Greenhouse effect, but what is the greenhouse effect? A greenhouse is normally something useful. It help us grow things like tomatoes out of the season that’s because it nice and warm in the greenhouse. The sun light enters and visible light penetrate the glass. This is partly absorbed by plants and soil and partly reflect outside as in visible heat radiation. As a result temperature rise inside the greenhouse. The plant earth obtain warmth in a similar fashion which is fortunate because otherwise we cannot survive. Without the natural greenhouse effect the temperature on our planet would be around -18 C and not the average 15 C above freezing.

Sunlight penetrate the gas layer at the atmosphere it partly absorbed and reflected just like in greenhouse. Small particle in the air ensure that the percentage of the reflected radiation in sent back to the earth. However, humans cause a lot of pollution by producing large amount of Carbon Dioxide, Methane, and Nitrous Oxide. Small particle increase in numbers and the result is just like the greenhouse where the glass is too thick. So the increased amount of radiation is sent back to earth and heat is unable to escape causing temperature to rise constantly on our planet.
