What Effect Does Climate Change Have On Animals?

With global warming the vegetation and large area of the earth changes and with it the food the animals live on. Take the Koala for intense, its habitat is eucalyptus forest and its main food is the green leaves. But too much Carbon Dioxide in the air changes the chemical composition of the eucalyptus leaves making them toxic to Koalas and threatening these highly especial animals.

Other species can react to climate change by fleeing. Researcher has calculated that on average species move nearly 17 kilometers toward the North and South Polls or climb about 11 meters higher in mountain every 10 years searching for cooler places to live. That’s 3 times faster than previously thought. They look for new habitat that are similar for their own ones. Storks are more often going further to the North East to find new nest. These birds find food in moist earth and wet land areas in central and Western Europe are shrinking.

A few species benefits from the climate change. The Bark Beetle for intense, with rising temperature it spread ever further damaging tree and entire forest and that tends to destroy the habitat for the other animals. In general more adaptable species the greater its chances of survival but some species react more sensitively then others. The inter-governmental panel on climate predicts 1 in3 species will die out if global warming continues.
